- infact, it seems that stevo has a replacement for the plymouth - I'm saying nothing incase it's a surprise, but one is very 'professional' looking, and the other is very er, red!
both are very nice indeed, so hopefully we'll be seeing them at the meet sometime soon

Very nice indeed!
Stevo came round the other day to show me his new ride and it's really nice!
the Capri is in top nick too and at £4000 it's my guess he won't have it for long, it's mint!

I used to have that shape Firebird with a Chevy 396 lump.
Bit like a Charger cos you don't really notice the lines at first, it all just 'works'.
When you look harder you notice all the subleties of the design, one of my all time favourites.

hey db
when you say firebird - and a chevy 396? - was that bolted up to the standard pontiac engine mounts??
can't seem to find out wether you can bolt pontiac engines into camaro's / chevy lumps into firebirds - without engine mount chopping?
as far as I can tell the crossmembers are identical, as well as all of the front suspension / steering - but they used different mounts on the x-member, as the pontiac block is much wider
any ideas???
(bowing to your superior musclecar knowledge!)

Hmm, not sure on that one mate sorry!
I bought it with that motor already fitted. I'd never owner a Chev or Pontiac before and it was only when i bought a few goodies for it and they wouldn't fit i realised summat was up
It's apparently quite a common mod in the States cos Pontiac go-fast bits aint as prolific as Chevy stuff.
I'd expect it to be straight forward, i'll ask around...

cheers chaps
I've sold the poncho lump out of the truck (going into a mercedes lowrider!!!) - so I'm thinking if I can, it would make mucho sense to use the 350 chevy, and either the th350 I have, or the bargain cheap chevy T5 I've bought to change the truck over to chevy power
I'm thinking that as the crossmember and entire suspension and steering is the same pontiac - chevy, then maybe it's a case of fitting chevy engine mounts to the pontiac crossmember - I don't really want to be hacking up the front clip to make it fit, as it's one of the few bits on the truck that is 'nice'
if you guys could use your 'musclecar knowledge power' to rustle up some concrete answers that would be ace!!!
pint for the first correct answer on a postcard? (dammit - already owe db a pint for the seat )

just to add some extra confusion - it's the pre-'knightrider' shape cars we're talking about here!
the later trans am's have 305 chevy's in from the factory, so that makes things extra complicated!!

For a 'definite' answer Kev- need to know the year and body class of the front clip and the year of the motor.
or....

right
the engine in the truck is a 1976 350 cube pontiac motor
I'm assuming that the front clip is 1976 pontiac trans am - it does look almost exactly like the clip this fella is selling on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0318622695
- which is a 1978 2nd generation clip
although I don't know the difference between a firebird clip and a trans am clip - argh!!!!
and lastly, the engine I'm looking to fit is a 350 cube small block chevy out of a late 70's blazer
- god what a nightmare!!!!
- kev
ps - shame the guy in that link isn't selling 'hot-rod's guide to fitting a chevy to a pontiac x-member in a ford' eh...

kev wrote: right although I don't know the difference between a firebird clip and a trans am clip - argh!!!! Firebird is a 4.9 & TRANS -AM 6.6 Kev. Chances are that if you were going to fit a front clip it would be the beefier trans-am one. Your 350 should drop straight on it. - god what a nightmare!!!! - kev ps - shame the guy in that link isn't selling 'hot-rod's guide to fitting a chevy to a pontiac x-member in a ford' eh...
